Bright Taillights from Lobeck's

by: John Shapiro, editor

Our '55 Chevy sedan delivery has always utilized the standard 1157 tail light bulb.   And since I don't have stock tail lights, but instead use full Buick lens which decrease the candle power, I've always had people say they can't see my brake lights in the day time.

QuarzHalogen

Well thanks to the new Quartz Halogen bulbs, my delivery has a new look or should I say a Bright Future, thanks to calling Ginny Lobeck at Lobeck's V8 Shop, which is open and selling parts, by the way.

I must admit, that I've tried numerious LED bulbs that promised to cure my "un-bright" lens problems, but they weren't any better than the stock 1157 ones.

I called Ginny Lobeck and asked if she had anything that might solve my problem and the answer was "Yes!"....

It's a Quartz Halogen direct replacement bulb and fits right into the 1156 socket. CAUTION: Do NOT touch the actual bulb glass with your fingers, use the styro foam protective cover, then remove that once installation is complete. Otherwise you'll damage the glass, leaving skin oil on it and it will reduce the bulbs life

The bulb is a little expensive (roughly $12. ea.) but considering the increased safety and the fact that if I got hit from behind I'd rather not have to try to match the Pearl Orange and Grey paint scheme to say nothing of the pinstriping!  It's a small price to pay.

Call Ginny Lobeck at Lobecks V8 Shop, 440-232-0210 and tell her you want the bulb we're using on our '55 Chevy sedan delivery. And here's to a safer cruisin' season!
