by: Gerry Gonda

As April arrives it becomes time to prepare for another cruising season and the 10th Annual Career & Technical School Foundations (TCATSF) Motorsports and More Auction & Benefit to be held April 2, 2011 at Pazzos Grand Ballroom, Parma Oh.

For one night in each of the last 10 years motorsports enthusiasts have gathered to help raise funds which will be used for scholarships and tools for students involved in technical education classes at the Cuyahoga Valley Career Center.

Serving over 25 local communities the school is a state of the art center for all forms of technical education.

Many of us can relate to the stigma of being evolved in “trade school programs but few of us have taken it to another level in an attempt to change old perceptions as the members of TCATSF have.  The event is unique as it has an automotive theme with plenty of rock and roll attitude.

Items such as a one of a kind piece of automotive stained glass created by artist Dave Duhn and original admission tickets from the famed Fillmore concert hall are all part of this year’s auction. Also up for grabs are numerous opportunities to win dinner, experiences such as a hot air balloon ride for four and spa packages.  Presenting a unique event is what the group strives for each year.

Along with a unique auction, local pinstripe artist “Stosh” is on hand to create personalized license plates which are distributed to attendees free of charge.  The plates are highly coveted and have become a draw in their own right.  The automotive concept doesn't end there as a unique $1000.00 drag racing top eliminator game is held which comes complete with contingency awards and round money.

Tickets for the event are $50 which includes access to an open bar, heavy hors d'oeuvres and desserts.  Side boards, various games of chance and giveaways are also part of the package.

Also being held is a contest through their Facebook page ( www.facebook.com/tcatsf) for two tickets (value of $100). To enter submit a photograph  that  illustrates the best marriage of man and machine, not the best car but the best attitude as to what a car means to someone.  There is no charge to submit a photo with entries being accepted to until March 14, 2011.

This year’s event is presented by Arendas Insurance with the support of many other local businesses including Rad-Air, Blaster Chemical, and Parma Transmission.  Many national race teams including Don Schumacher Racing and Penske Motorsports also join in to make the event unique.

All profits go directly to the students.  To insure it's designation as a recognized nonprofit organization the TCATSF maintains 501 © 3 listing.

Further information concerning sponsorship opportunities and tickets is available through their Facebook page  www.facebook.com/tcatsf , by phoning Joe Lamatrice  at 440-746-8264 or stopping by Parma Marine at  2327 Brookpark Rd. Parma, Ohio and taking to Dave.
