Expecting Record Attendance for Aug. 21st 2010 Event
by: John Shapiro, editor
Downtown events throughout Ohio have fast become a vital injection for merchant growth over the past years and Downtown Mansfield's "Heart of the City" Cruise has hit it's stride a premier event for area cruisers.

Located just off I-71 and Route 30, makes Mansfield easy access for most cruisers coming all points of Ohio.
Although the Downtown Mansfield "Heart of the City" Cruise is one of the stops along the Cruisin' Times Lucky 13 Tour, it's been growing as a major benefit cruise to raise funds for "Toy Time" that collects and refurbishes toys for over 2,000 needy kids in the area as over $4,000 was raised last year.

It was originally started 12 years ago by the Gent’s Car Club to raise funds for the Miss Ohio Scholarship. Over the years, the downtown Mansfield Cruise has had it’s hosts change but it’s stayed true to a cause and that’s to benefit the downtown area and the non-profit sector.

Great pair of fat fenderd ‘47 Fords. The business coupe belongs to Richard Miller of Ashland while the sedan is owned by Bill Jansen also of Ashland, Oh.
Not only will you see close to 700 cars you haven’t seen before, you’ll enjoy the many stores, inclouding one of our favorites, John’s Hobby Shop, one of the true “old school style” hobby stores.

(CAPTION: Dan Campbell's wild "Stud-Zilla" had lots of lookers and we believe Dan is building another car to debut for the 2010 event.
But putting on an event doesn’t just materialize with out a concerted effort on the part of lots of volunteer and sponsors like Graham Chevrolet, Franklin Body Shop; Ramey’s Automotive Inc., Shaw-Ott Medical; Main Street Mansfield and many store owners & restaurants that stayed open for the anticipated crowds.

Parking is grouped in and around the two grass squares as well as the tree mall (pictured) plus streets to the east and west of the city all of which are blocked off and open for pedestrian traffic to view the cars.
This years downtown cruise will be Saturday Aug 21, 2010, cars begin showing up around (10am) with registration ($10) thru 4pm, with live entertainment - “Remember When” as the featured oldies band with awards at 7:30 pm. Events Tees to the first 200 and dash plaques to the first 300.
